Pandemia e strumenti di pagamento: studio della Banca d'Italia


L'emergenza sanitaria 2020, in particolare i periodi di chiusura forzata di talune attività commerciali e la restrizione alla libera circolazione delle persone sono state le principali causa del cambiamento delle abitudini degli italiani anche in relazione agli strumenti di pagamento. La Banca d'Italia ha pubblicato nel luglio 2021 uno studio di 31 pagine (LINK) - autori: Guerino Ardizzi, Alessandro Gambini, Andrea Nobili, Emanuele Pimpini e Giorgia Rocco - dal titolo, appunto "L'impatto della pandemia sull'uso degli strumenti di pagamento in Italia", dal quale ci permettiamo di trarre alcuni passi significativi ed alcune immagini, ritenute anch'esse significative al di là di ogni altro commento. Il numero di POS tra il 2014 ed il 2019 è più che raddoppiato  (rapporto 7 abitanti su 100 al centro - nord e di 4,5 su 100 nel mezzogiorno). La quota acquisti online su quelli con carte è aumentata dal 25% di febbraio al 40% di aprile 2020.   Incidenza delle transazioni e commerce (dati giornalieri - valori percentuali) Le conclusioni I risultati mostrano che l'emergenza sanitaria e le misure governative per contenere la diffusione dell'epidemia hanno indotto una maggiore preferenza per le carte rispetto al contante al punto vendita fisico e, in generale, un più intenso utilizzo degli strumenti elettronici (bonifici, addebiti diretti carte di debito e credito) rispetto a quelli tradizionali (contante, incassi commerciali e assegni). Gli effetti osservati durante la prima ondata di infezioni sono in larga parteLe tecnologie che consentono un maggior distanziamento fisico nelle transazioni al dettaglio (contactless) e più in generale l'uso delle carte di pagamento hanno registrato una forte espansione al Centro e nel Mezzogiorno, dove era presente un gap di utilizzo rispetto al Nord prima della pandemia. Al Sud, in particolare, è aumentata la propensione all'utilizzo delle carte rispetto al contante anche per pagamenti di importo meno elevato. Gli acquisti online, invece, sono aumentati di più al Nord, interessato maggiormente dall'epidemia soprattutto durante la prima ondata di infezioni.  proseguiti anche nella restante parte del 2020
